Sir Francis Bacon and William Shakespeare

Sir Francis Bacon's New Advancement of Learning believes William Shakespeare was actually Francis Bacon. An old theory, but an impressively detailed site.

A pretty good site, helped me with my paper. I was not convinced until reading the material on www.sirbacon.org. It's shocking to see that the man we thought was Shakespeare was really Francis Bacon instead!

I'm not sure you should be convinced by the information on that site. It's certainly intriguing, but those that disagree with those theories still far outnumber those that accept them. I'm glad it helped on a paper though. :)

I visited www.sirbacon.org after visiting some of the Earl of Oxford theory websites and for me there is more persuasive information for Bacon's authorship. When I started off on my research I was very skeptical but the case for WilliamShakespere is very weak. I can't believe all this time that people fell for it. I guess it's what Bacon said in his 4 Idols about the power of tradition and how it can hold sway. But the Sir Francis Bacon's New Advancement website is a must for anyone interested in this issue.

Impressive body of evidence. I've always been sceptical because Bacon's writings seem intuitively different than Shakespheare's, but I suppose it could be a matter of radically different scientific and literary styles at that time.
