Just got a Zogby fax with the latest numbers from S. Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma and Arizona:
S.C.
Edwards 25%
Kerry 24%
MO
Kerry 45%
Edwards 11%
OK
Clark 27%
Kerry 19%
Edwards 17%
AZ
Kerry 38%
Clark 17%
Of note from Zogby: In S.C. Sharpton is getting 5% and only 10% of blacks Zogby calls him no Rev. Jackson . . . .Kerry is he only person who will likely take delegates from all four states . . . Edwards strong among independents and NASCAR but Kerry strong every where else.
Is Dean not running in these states, or as he sunk so far so fast as to not rate mention? Also, that "Nascar" thing is just getting out of hand. Why not just keep calling him Joe Sixpack? Well, I guess because eventually people figure out that the cultural elites are tagging and bagging them left and right, so we gotta keep switching up the labels.
Sorry, mini-rant.
National Review has an article up today here that talks about Kerry's chance of winning South Carolina and that if he does, he will be the nominee. It's looking more and more likely that we'll be stuck with Kerry as our nominee. I don't really see how he's much better than Gore was, tbh. What is this fascination the Dems have with boring, rich New England liberals? I think Kerry could win against Bush, but certainly isn't the strongest candidate.
Dean is pretty much conceding the Feb 3rd states due to his lack of funds. It's a shame; I had hoped he'd start attacking Kerry and give Edwards a chance to move ahead. If Kerry wins a 3-4 states on Feb 3rd, no one will be able to stop him. Dean cannot afford to lose everywhere on Feb 3rd if he's still serious about competing. Of course, he was the only one in the debate that actually tried to take on Kerry. Everyone else pretty much just crowned him the nominee by not criticizing him.
And yet again, this country manages to completely fucking alienate me.
sleepnotwork,
Here are Dean's numbers;
SC- 9 (3rd place)
MO- 9 (3rd)
OK- 9 (4th)
AZ- 12 (3rd)
I don't understand what the hell Dean is doing. I almost suspect he just trying to raise enough money to pay off debts and will drop out after Feb. 3. But then again this doesn't seem so plausible. I don't know how he intends to take on Kerry in Michigan--the word is that Kerry has the endorsement of the hot new governor.
Those numbers are really disapointing. I was hoping Clark would be doing better in Arizona and Missouri, and it looks like Kerry may take out Edwards in SC.
