All I can say is, thank God Texas isn't a cicada state. Now all we have to worry about are these damned killer bees.

What? Texas has cicadas. Maybe not the 17 year broods of magicicada that I'm currently obsessed with, but we do have the 13 year broods (which makes sense as Texas is closer to the equator). Here's some info:

Yeah, I meant the current crop. Lord knows, I'm certainly familiar with the cicadas - there must have been a big brood that came out at some point when I was a little nipper, 'cause the sound is permanently etched into my consciousness of summertime.

Every summer in Texas has cicadas because there are broods that come out much more frequently than the 13 or 17 year ones as well.

Man Becomes Ill After Gorging on Cicadas

The man showed up at a Bloomington clinic Thursday covered from head-to-toe in hives, and sheepishly told a doctor he'd caught and ate the cicadas after sauteing them in butter with crushed garlic and basil.
