Considering my new high level of coffee intake due to the free coffee here at work, I was seriosly thinking of disavowing the beverage, but now I want to buy a new coffee maker. Damn my weak defense to neat looking things that plug into the wall... Seriously though I am worried about my new intake level. I think I have blown into full-form addiction. Previously, I had been at about 2 cups a day on Sat-Sun, now I go through 2-3 8 cup pots during my Sunday morning political shows.
Woah. That's a lot of coffee. I usually drink one cup in the morning, then a fairly large mug in the afternoon. Although sometimes, instead of the afternoon coffee, I just take a 15-20 minute nap. The latter works better, but sometimes leaves me with too much energy to sleep later that night, whereas the coffee wears off fairly quickly. After 7:30 or so, though, I can't drink caffeine if I want to sleep before 2am.
It sounds like a lot, but when you think that an average "novelty" mug (a.k.a. any mugs with a logo or whatnot) holds 2 cups, thats only 8-12 mugs full. It just sneaks up on you. I had a Tim Allen Tool Time mug that held 6 cups, but it was thrown away in the move by my loving wife... I miss that mug. I am at the point now where I can drink a pot around 6-7 watching TV, and still have no problem going to sleep. It's even worse when I read.
Yikes. Btw, if you're interested in maximizing the stimulant value of your coffee intake, the best way to do it is to drink small amounts regularly throughout the day. Instead of a whole cup at at time, just drink a shot's worth or so, but drink more often than you would otherwise.
Yeah, great.... Thanks for the help.... :)
