The New Dukakis

These photos are being compared to the Dukakis in the tank photos. The Dems are claiming they were leaked to smear Kerry. I don't think they are so bad. He looks nice dressed as a blue noodle. From Drudge Update I found a better article here. Also while searching, I never realized that Kerry has been compared to Dukakis quite often. Almost every photo op with him not in a suit he was compared to Dukakis.

CAHILL: there was no press there. there was -- nothing. all of the sudden these photographs are out.

er? These aren't candid shots--Kerry et al. are posing for the photo. The article isn't clear on when they were taken, but because it mentions "the campaign," I guess it was in the last year. How can a presidential candidate assume any photograph he is in, particularly one taken during his candidacy, would remain undiscovered?

They aren't all that embarrassing anyway. If Kerry was concerned about his image of masculinity, he shouldn't have thrown a knuckleball into the dirt from ten feet in front of the mound at the Yankee-BoSox game.

The NY Post ran the picture and compared it to the picture of a giant sperm from one of the Woody Allen movies (I don't recall which one, I don't really care for any of them). I think it's just silly, both the picture and the attempt to make any political hay out of it. That said, I admit to a small chuckle at the NY Post comparison. Please, I'm not THAT mature.

The photos were taken last Monday I think, but not by the press as no press was allowed through the white room. I think they were taken by Nasa officials.

Right--the article you linked in your update cleared that up. Either way, when a presidential candidate smiles for a photograph at NASA with John Glenn, despite the absence of press, shouldn't he consider the possibility that they will be released? The quote above--that "all of a sudden these photographs are out"--is crazy.

That said, this is just another in a long list of non-stories that come out of every election season.

The real story is the fact that most of the cable news outlets are using these pics to compare him to Dukakis's tank stunt. Some have even gone so far as to show both pictures side by side. You know, that liberal media, following the GOP talking points to the letter.
