Brasil now exports more beef than the US. The article doesn't mention it, but I seem to remember that a lot of Brazilian cattle grazes on clear-cut rainforest land. The soil washes away easily, so they have to cut down more after a few years. It's ok, though. We don't need carbon dioxide filters.

The article is correct in the sense that lots of experts have already explained that there are lands that are more suitable to pecuary than forests. But this is not heard by many. Most of the perfect pastures that had already been used for agriculture and raising animals are abandoned, while some farmers seek new space in the forests that have been left preserved till nowadays.
