I know Urban Dead has already shown up on Metafilter and BoingBoing, but I just gotta say, it looks like a lot of fun. I just started a couple of days ago. It's a turn-based MMORPG that you play with your browser. It only takes about 10-20 minutes a day, but already looks like it'll be rather engrossing. If any of you decide to play, post a comment or something so we can team up.
I'm in. I just found a shotgun with my Smeej character, so we are ready to leave the PD and make way to the hospital or fire station. Actually I have a 3 pistols, a shotgun, 5-6 shotgun rounds, flak vests and 2 flare guns.
I also created another person, Jughead190 who is currently holed up in the barbara general hospital in east becktown. Perhaps he can team up with one of your other characters.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention my character names:
anachronist (currently human, but a zombie at heart)
peripeteia (cop)
petrichor (nechrotech)
Peripeteia could team up with your latest character. I'll have to move him, though.
A friend of mine also has a character named "sangandongo", though he's currently a zombie. Once he gets revived, I'm gonna try and team up with him, as well.
Ok does petrichor have any syringes for revival? I think those would be good to have next. Do you know of any nechrotech buildings nearby?
No syringes yet, because he doesn't have the skill to revive anyone. I'll probably go for lab experience first so I can start reviving, but I have to level up first.
neeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrdddddd.... :)
You know you want to play. It's great fun. For instance, just today I heard reports of a survivor trapped and injured in a nearby library. I stopped by and tended to some of his wounds with the few first aid kits I'd been able to scrounge, moved on to extract DNA samples from a few milling zombies for NechroTech's database, went to the Hospital and searched for more first aid kits to replenish my supply, then ducked back into the barricaded police station that I'm currently holed up in. My next foray will be to a NechroTech building to look for revivification syringes that will allow me to revive zombies back into living humans (our most effective weapon against their spread). Once I have that, I will seek out our friend's dead body, revive him, and then we'll try to find a better place to hide. Police Departments are notoriously unsafe because the zombies know survivors are always hiding there. A mob of 30-40 of them could show up any time, tear down the barricades, and start munching on our brains. The best way to survive is to keep moving, but I need to learn a few more skills (like how to barricade buildings) before it'll be safer to go elsewhere.
Now doesn't that sound like fun? 10-15 minutes a day of play and you could join us (or decide to play as a zombie). You know you want to.
It's possible to get quite deep into this game, despite it's simplistic mechanics. I've been playing it for about two months, and have really started to create a niche for myself.
One of my characters (Milligan, lvl 19 Military) has been appointed Commanding Officer of a group of survivors in the South-East of the City of Malton, in Penny Heights.
Another character (Montague Druitt, lvl 8 Civilian) is a Bounty Hunter... now up to #2 on the Bounty Points list... and has recently been asked (by PM) to investigate the murder of a lvl 2 character... way over on the other side of the City, in East Becktown. This requires a three-day journey across a chaotic city filled with brain-munching Zombies and suspicious, territorial gangs of Survivors. He's en-route there, now.
Yes, and it seems like, from what I've seen the last few days since headshot got nerfed, an increasing number of zombies on the street. This, of course, could be attributable to random wanderings, but the game feels more dangerous all of a sudden. We'll see if this trend continues through the next week or so.
I'm in a group with three other players (all from this blog); we're about to migrate toward more highly zed-populated areas now that our team is intact. Just gotta load up on supplies first.
